Engineering Technician
Title:Engineering Technician
Location:Sandpoint, ID
Biomedical Innovations, a Nissha company, is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to maintain the CAD system, assist with design projects, develop engineering documentation, perform and develop test protocol, and assist with research. Responsibilities include working on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data require a review of identifiable factors.


Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with design projects with developing documentation such as engineering specifications, test protocols, procedures, and validation.
  • Maintain the CAD drawing system with assigning work orders, archiving approved drawings, and ensuring the correct personal receive requested drawings.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques, processes and criteria in preparation of engineering deliverables: calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
  • Assist in mathematical modeling, 3D design concepts, and prototyping to work out whether new developments and innovations will work and be cost effective.
  • Research new materials, designs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Collect and analyze data from testing on product, machines, and prototypes
  • Assist the Program Management Team with engineering.
  • Assist the Quality Team with validation and documentation.
  • Aid in the development of plans and protocols for evaluation of systems and components and/or reagent products and provides data for design review process.
  • Assist in the design of new products and machines.
  • Assist in project management with setting up scheduling, costing, and design proposals for new products, machines, and automation within the engineering department.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Abide by all safety and security rules set forth by the company and regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in General Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering. Related work experience can substitute on a year for year basis.
  • One year of experience as an Engineering Technician or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Sound knowledge of CAD software required (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and methods
  • Mathematical skills
  • Strong reading and comprehension skills
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills
